Most Accurate Strikers in the UFC

UPDATED MAY 2026

Tom Aspinall lands 67% of his significant strikes, the highest rate among the 353 active UFC fighters with 10 or more UFC bouts who have competed since January 2023. Alex Pereira and Jailton Almeida follow at 62%. The median across that sample is 47%. Aspinall connects at nearly 1.4x that rate.

What makes that number unusual isn't the accuracy alone. Aspinall also throws 7.63 significant strikes per minute, well above the sample median of 4.05. Opponents mix in level changes, clinch entries, and takedown threats that a pure striker never has to account for. Landing above 60% against that variety of defense means a fighter is either reading opponents at an elite level, finishing fights before accuracy degrades, or both.

What Is a Good Striking Accuracy in the UFC?

Among the 353 active UFC fighters with 10 or more bouts who have competed since January 2023, the median striking accuracy is 47%. The middle half of the sample lands between 43% and 51%. Clearing 55% puts a fighter in the top 10% of that group. Only 6 fighters in the sample, 1.7%, land better than 60%.

Accuracy doesn't tell the full story on its own. A fighter at 61% throwing 1.77 strikes per minute, like Gunnar Nelson, is a different profile than one at 60% throwing 6.05, like Sean O'Malley. The number reflects how often a fighter connects when they commit, not how much damage they're doing or how often they finish. Use it alongside volume and finishing rate for a complete picture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the most accurate striker in the UFC?

Tom Aspinall, with 67% striking accuracy across 10 UFC bouts. Among the 353 active UFC fighters who have competed since January 2023 and have 10 or more UFC bouts, no one connects at a higher rate. He also throws 7.63 significant strikes per minute, well above the sample median of 4.05.

What counts as a significant strike in the UFC?

UFC Stats defines a significant strike as any strike landed at distance, plus power strikes in the clinch and on the ground. Short, glancing strikes in the clinch and on the ground are excluded. One limitation worth knowing: all strikes at distance count as significant regardless of impact, which means a grazing jab counts the same as a clean cross. That affects how accuracy numbers should be read, particularly for high-volume fighters.

How is UFC striking accuracy calculated?

Striking accuracy is significant strikes landed divided by significant strikes attempted, expressed as a percentage.

Does high striking accuracy mean a fighter is better?

Not on its own. Accuracy reflects how often a fighter connects when they throw, not how much damage they do or how often they finish. Jailton Almeida throws 2.23 significant strikes per minute at 62% accuracy. Sean O'Malley throws 6.05 at 60%. Same accuracy tier, completely different offensive profiles. Use it alongside volume and finishing rate for a complete picture.
